Latest Projects
PBSA in Leicester
Global Building Environments (GBE), part of the Global HSE Group, were appointed as Principal Contractor for a retrofit project across ten stair cores within a purpose-built student accommodation site in Leicester.
The development required upgrades to its smoke ventilation systems, with one of the stair cores exceeding 18 metres in height, necessitating a Building Safety Regulator Gateway 2 application.
The objective was to enhance the building’s fire safety and compliance, ensuring effective smoke extraction and improved occupant safety while minimising disruption to residents.
PBSA in Newcastle
Global undertook passive fire protection works on a live student accommodation site in Newcastle. Taking a holistic approach, fire strategy review and AFD upgrade.
Consisting of 6 student blocks in a given time frame of 12 months. Global was able to complete the work in a reduced timetable down to 9 months*, reducing the disruption any students received.
Hyde Housing
Global’s work with Hyde is a large-scale project that requires planning and organisation at each stage to ensure that the works can be delivered efficiently.
This process requires effective communication across multiple departments, which Global achieves through the utilisation of documentation systems, such as Bolster. In addition to FRA actions, Global also complete ad hoc actions which can occur outside of the annual FRAs due to changes in build usage, circumstance, or tenancy.
Gateshead Council
Global Technical Services (GTS) was asked to review Fire Risk Appraisals of the External Wall of sites across Gateshead completed by Gateshead Council.
FRAEWs were reviewed and read in line with the PAS9980 and reports were produced for the Building Safety Officer for Gateshead Council. Site visits were undertaken and the reports highlighted points of clarification, confirmation or remediation.
Winchester College Sports & Leisure
Global Technical Services (GTS) were appointed to Scrutineer work after an initial enquiry raised by Kier on a site visit, to GRP framed Fire Door Installation.
Desktop reviews on the use of materials was undertaken and site visits under GTS’s standard scope of services with written reports to seek clarification, confirmation, or remediation.
